Your role

As an Instrumentation Engineer, you work on designing, modifying and optimizing measurement and control systems within industrial brownfield environments.

You work on modifications, expansions and replacements of existing installations. In doing so, you translate process information and existing field conditions into reliable instrumentation solutions that are safe, practically feasible and well integrated into the existing plant.

Projects are mainly within heavy industry, water treatment, tank terminals and refineries, where installations are continuously in operation and modifications must be carefully integrated.

Within projects, you work under the guidance of a senior engineer, discipline lead or project manager, while being responsible for your own instrumentation scope. You coordinate with process engineers, electrical engineers, automation engineers and suppliers to achieve an integrated design.

The work mainly consists of engineering activities in the office, with flexibility for working from home (approximately 80/20), complemented by site surveys, field checks and project meetings on location.

What will you be doing?

  • Designing and specifying field instrumentation such as pressure, level, flow and temperature measurements, control valves and analyzers

  • Preparing and maintaining instrument datasheets, instrument indexes and I/O lists

  • Developing instrument loops, hook-ups, field cabling and junction box connections

  • Reviewing and aligning P&IDs, control narratives and cause & effect diagrams

  • Preparing FEED, Basic and Detail engineering documentation for instrumentation

  • Selecting and technically evaluating instrumentation from suppliers and processing vendor documentation

  • Integrating new instrumentation into existing installations, including interfaces with DCS/PLC systems

  • Performing site surveys, field checks and surveys of existing installations

  • Preparing and verifying revisions and as-built documentation

  • Identifying field risks, deviations and practical feasibility within brownfield installations
