Job description
What are we looking for?
Are you a decisive, customer-focused and knowledgeable professional with a passion for technology and innovation? At Vicoma, we are always open to new talent who want to contribute to a future-proof industry.
Do you want to work on complex industrial challenges?
At Vicoma, you get this opportunity within an organization where craftsmanship, flexibility, and a warm, collegial culture are central. You work alongside colleagues who know the profession inside and out; many have been with the company for years, meaning there is a wealth of knowledge and experience you benefit from every day. At Vicoma, professionals are given the space to take responsibility and work together on solutions that truly make an impact.
What can you expect?

Your role
As Lead Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer, you will be the technical and organisational anchor of our E&I team in Rotterdam. Together with the team, you will monitor capacity and workload, contribute to a healthy project intake and ensure that technical quality, knowledge development and professional standards remain strong.
On average, approximately 50% of your time will be spent on engineering. The remainder will focus on project meetings, coordination, coaching, client contact and organisational activities within larger and multidisciplinary projects. You remain technically involved while providing clear direction to colleagues and projects.
You will act as the technical point of contact for clients, suppliers and project teams. In complex or ad-hoc situations, you remain calm, set the right priorities and make sure decisions are taken. You will have considerable freedom in your approach, provided that planning, quality, budget and commitments are properly managed. The role is approximately 80% office-based and 20% working from home, supplemented by occasional visits to client or project locations.
What will you be doing?
Providing technical leadership on Electrical & Instrumentation projects and acting as the technical authority within your discipline
Operationally guiding, coaching and supporting engineers and designers in their professional and personal development
Monitoring the E&I team’s capacity, staffing and workload, and identifying bottlenecks or development needs at an early stage
Working with Sales and project management on proposals, scope definition, hour estimates and a healthy project intake
Monitoring project planning, progress, quality, budget and technical scope
Preparing, reviewing and, where appropriate, approving technical documentation, calculations, designs and specifications
Acting as the technical point of contact for clients, suppliers, project managers and lead engineers from other disciplines
Identifying technical risks, structuring decision-making and initiating practical solutions
Contributing to standardisation, process improvement, knowledge sharing and the continued professionalisation of the department
Handling employee- and organisation-related matters within the team and coordinating with HR or management where required
