What can you expect?

Your role

As a Engineer Civil Concrete/Steel at our Velsen office, you are responsible for independently carrying out structural calculations within industrial projects. You act as the link between theory and practice: translating client requests into technical solutions and ensuring that structures are designed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with applicable regulations.

You work in a team of experienced senior engineers and team leads, while being capable of independently managing projects and contributing technically at a substantive level. You combine strong analytical and calculation skills with project awareness: you understand not only the structural design itself, but also planning, budgeting of hours, and client expectations.

Within clearly defined regulatory and theoretical frameworks, you are given the freedom to apply creativity in your approach, provided that your solutions are technically substantiated and aligned with the client’s needs.

What will you be doing?

• Performing steel and reinforced concrete calculations for industrial structures;

• Modelling and analysing structures using software such as SCIA, Technosoft, and IDEA StatiCa;

• Translating practical structures (e.g. steel frameworks or concrete floors) into accurate calculation models;

• Preparing calculation reports and technical substantiation documents;

• Making realistic time estimates for your own scope of work;

• Independently handling schematisation, calculations, and time management;

• Conducting peer reviews of colleagues’ calculations;

• Coordinating with disciplines such as E&I, Mechanical, and Piping;

• Consulting with team leads, senior engineers, and clients regarding technical content and project progress;

You will spend the majority of your time on structural calculations (approx. 55%), complemented by coordination activities (25%) and technical reviews (15%).

What do you bring with you?

• A completed bachelor’s or master’s degree (e.g., Civil Engineering or similar);

• Relevant experience in steel and/or concrete structures is an nice additional benefits;

• Strong knowledge of the fundamental principles of steel and reinforced concrete design calculations;

• VCA VOL certified (or willing to obtain this certification);

• Command of both Dutch (B1) and English (C1);

• Affinity with sustainability and innovation within the industrial sector;

• And willingness to (occasionally) work at client locations.
