Job description

What are we looking for?

Are you a decisive, customer-focused and knowledgeable professional with a passion for technology and innovation? At Vicoma, we are always open to new talent who want to contribute to a future-proof industry.

Do you want to work on complex industrial challenges?

At Vicoma, you get this opportunity within an organization where craftsmanship, flexibility, and a warm, collegial culture are central. You work alongside colleagues who know the profession inside and out; many have been with the company for years, meaning there is a wealth of knowledge and experience you benefit from every day. At Vicoma, professionals are given the space to take responsibility and work together on solutions that truly make an impact.

What can you expect?

Your role

As a High-Voltage Engineer, you design and deliver secondary systems for high-voltage substations in the Netherlands. You work on control systems, protection systems, cable connections, and technical documentation that are crucial to a reliable electricity grid.

You contribute to projects for clients such as TenneT, Qirion, and Enexis—from modernizing existing substations to fully engineering new substations within voltage levels ranging from 10 kV to 150 kV. You are involved from basic design through to the as-built phase, including calculations, connection overviews, and direct coordination with the client.

You work in multidisciplinary teams with short lines of communication and are given significant freedom to optimize technical solutions and independently substantiate your decisions.

What will you be doing?

Your responsibilities include, among others:

  • Designing and engineering secondary installations for high-voltage substations (control, protection, and automation);

  • Preparing schematics, cable calculations, connection overviews, and technical documentation;

  • Developing engineering packages from basic design through to the as-built phase;

  • Implementing modifications in existing substations and working with legacy installations;

  • Coordinating with clients on technical content, progress, and solutions;

  • Collaborating with primary engineering, civil engineering, and project management;

  • Reviewing designs against client specifications, NEN standards, and safety requirements;

  • Developing tools or working methods to improve engineering efficiency and planning.
