What can you expect?

Your role

As a Senior Design Engineer Piping, you are responsible for designing, developing, and coordinating piping installations within industrial projects. You work on projects ranging from basic design to detail engineering and are technically involved from the very first client contact.

You translate client requests, P&IDs, and site information into technically strong and practically feasible designs. In doing so, you work largely independently, maintain direct contact with clients, and guide designers within projects when needed.

In addition to engineering, you actively contribute to technical decision-making, feasibility, planning, and cost considerations.

What will you be doing?

Your responsibilities include:

• Independently designing and developing 3D piping layouts;

• Translating P&IDs, work descriptions, and client information into technical designs;

• Conducting site surveys and collecting field data;

• Preparing cost estimates and quotations;

• Developing both basic and detailed designs;

• Creating, checking, and reviewing isometrics;

• Performing 3D model reviews;

• Working with 3D scans;

• Managing and supporting designers within projects;

• Coordinating with clients regarding technical issues and design decisions;

• Collaborating with disciplines such as Process, Mechanical, and Structural;

• Monitoring the quality, planning, and progress of deliverables;

• Identifying when pipe stress analyses are required and coordinating this with specialists.

You will work for a wide range of industrial clients within sectors such as process industry, energy, storage, and marine. Projects include work for:

• Tata Steel

• Evos

• Exolum

• Marine Den Helder

• Sonneborn

• Ketjen

• AkzoNobel

• Bluewater

Approximately 80% of the work consists of single-discipline piping projects. The remaining 20% involves multidisciplinary projects in collaboration with other engineering disciplines.

In this role, you will work daily with software including:

• AutoCAD Plant 3D

• AutoCAD

• Navisworks

Experience with other 3D piping software is of course also welcome.

• Experience as a Piping Designer / Design Engineer within industry;

• Experience with 3D piping design software;

• Knowledge of piping layouts, isometrics, and structural principles;

• Ability to independently manage projects and make technical decisions;

• Experience with client interaction and project coordination;

• A practical mindset and solution-oriented approach;

• Experience with pipe stress analyses is a plus;

• At minimum, you understand when a stress analysis is required.

• A starting salary between €3,598.87 and €4,798.50 gross per month based on a 38-hour work week. The salary scale for this position goes up to a maximum of €5,278.35.

• In addition to your fixed salary, you can choose to have (part of) your flexible budget paid out or convert it into additional leave days.

• Holiday allowance and December bonus. Every year in May, you receive 8% holiday allowance. In addition, you receive a December bonus equal to 15% of your monthly salary.

• At Vicoma, we work 38 hours per week, which comes with 26 vacation days. And if you are over 50 years old, you even receive 28 vacation days.

• Our working hours are flexible. We provide guidelines, but within those you decide when you work. Part-time work is also possible. In short: you are in control, helping you maintain a healthy work-life balance.

• You will work partly from home and partly from the office, and we facilitate your home workspace.
